To upgrade from 1.3.0, first install 1.4.0 and run the application once. Then copy the XMLFile.xml (This is what stores all the application data) from C:\Program Files\Educational Software\Spelling
Made Simple\ to %HOMEPATH%\Application Data\SpellingMadeSimple
Click Here to download a batch file that will do this for you if you installed the application in the default directories.
This batch file only works if you installed 1.3.0 to C:\Program Files\Educational Software\Spelling
Made Simple\ and have 1.4.0 installed and have run the 1.4.0 application once.
The reason this moved was to allow non-admin users the ability to use this software.
